Garret Freymann-Weyr is the author of five books of literary fiction for teens, including My Heartbeat, a Michael L. Printz Honor Book.

Her newest book is French Ducks in Venice, a picture book about friendship and how to recognize happiness even when you are a little bit sad.

A native of New York, Garret has been around the world looking for the perfect cup of tea, which is actually most enjoyable when she is doing what every writer has to do: sitting in her own study and writing.

She lives in California, DC and North Carolina with her well-traveled pets Henry and Dorcas.
